E-World Editing specializes in editing scientific and technical research papers written in English by authors who are not native English speakers. This is our only focus and we are not distracted by performing other services such as translating, interpreting or teaching English.

Different companies mean different things when they call their service 'editing'. At E-World Editing, it includes corrections of grammar, word usage, spelling, punctuation and other mechanics of style. It also includes clarifying meaning, eliminating jargon, polishing language, and other improvements to the non-mechanics of style.

Each paper submitted to E-WE is first edited by a technical editor that has an advanced degree in the same or very similar subject as the paper. For example, a paper concerning microbiology will be edited by someone with an advanced degree in microbiology, whereas a paper concerning electrical engineering will be edited by someone else who has an advanced degree in that field. (Go to "Our Editors" to learn more about the qualifications of our staff.) Each paper is then checked a second time by a copy editor to catch any errors that were missed.

Currently, most professors and researchers who live in a non-English speaking country rely on ESL teachers to edit their documents. Even though ESL teachers know how to teach English and are most often native-speakers of English, the majority of them have no background in a scientific or technical field. Research articles are almost always written for a specific audience who can understand the unique and complicated terms of the document. They are not written for the general public. Therefore, a person without a scientific background cannot adequately edit an article on microbiology, much less another article on electrical engineering, followed by an article about nuclear medicine. Unfortunately however, this is what often happens when researchers rely on ESL teachers for technical editing.

E-World Editing is the perfect solution. Because we are located in the United States, and because of our network with three highly ranked universities, E-WE is able to employ very capable editors with advanced degrees in a wide array of scientific fields. This ensures that your document is edited not only by a native speaker of English, but someone who has a working knowledge of your particular field. In addition, thanks to the power of Internet technology, we can complete the work as quickly and conveniently as we could if we were located right next door.
